Plunked down in Nana’s unfamiliar neighborhood, seven year old CJ discovers friendship, empathy and joy in unexpected places. 

Adapted from Matt de la Peña and Christian Robinson’s celebrated picture book, the Newberry Award-winning Last Stop on Market Street features music and lyrics by Paris Ray Dozier and his father, Lamont Dozier, writer of Motown hits like Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” and The Supremes’ “Stop! In the Name of Love.”

YPT is proud to conclude its 2023-24 season with this hip-hoppin’, toe-tappin’ musical joyride about finding beauty in everyday city life!

Aja Singletary is excited to make her YPT debut. Her recent theatre credits include: Nacirema Society (Goodman), Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (Marriott), Is God Is (Red Orchid), The Factotum (Lyric), Athena (Writers Theatre), Relentless (Timeline), Dance Nation (Steppenwolf), and Eclipsed (Pegasus). BA: Fordham University. Represented by Gray Talent Group. Offstage, you'll catch Aja dancing, teaching, and quoting Spongebob. Aja thanks her family, friends, and the Last Stop on Market Street team for their support!

Ania Martin The St. Louis native made her Chicago professional debut in Sister Act at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in the summer of ‘22, and played Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors at Citadel Theatre. She then went on to perform in two operas as a dancer in The Factotum at Lyric Opera of Chicago and Treemonisha at Saint Louis Opera Theatre. Ania thanks God first for her talent, grace, and opportunities as she makes her debut with YPT! Thank you!

Fabian Guerrero is a Chicago-based actor and artist. Recent projects include FILM/TELEVISION: Haunted House of Pancakes, Final Summer, Chicago Fire (NBC), THEATRE: Cymbeline (Milwaukee Shakespeare), The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (The Gift Theatre), Romero (Steppenwolf LookOut Series), and upcoming this summer as the titular Macbeth (Pocket Park Puppet Players Milwaukee). Outside of the theatre, Fabian enjoys cooking for his friends and family as well as creating art.

Jenece Upton is thrilled to be making her YPT debut! As a Chicago-based actress and singer, she’s enjoyed telling compelling and meaningful stories both onstage and onscreen. Chicago and regional theater credits include Passing Strange (Theo Ubique); Botticelli in the Fire (First Floor Theater); Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill (Temple Theatre, Sanford, NC); and Shrek: The Musical (Music Theater Works). Maya Lou Hlava is thrilled to be returning to YPT, where she was recently seen in Dory Fantasmagory. Additional Chicago credits include The Penelopiad (Goodman Theatre); The Best Damn Thing (The Understudy Cafe); A Christmas Carol, Shrek, White Christmas, and Bye Bye Birdie (Drury Lane Theatre); Spring Awakening (Porchlight Theater); Act 5, The Killing Game, and The Nether (A Red Orchid Theatre); Zurich (Steep Theatre); Oklahoma (Marriott Theatre); Violet (Griffin Theater); Trevor (Writers Theatre); The Secret Garden (Court Theatre); Jane Eyre (Lifeline Theatre); The Wheel (Steppenwolf Theatre); Film and Television Credits include Will Trent, The Perpetrator, Chicago Med, The Chi, and The Big Leap. Maya is represented by Stewart Talent.

Richaun Stewart is an Ohio-born, Indiana-brought up, and Illinois-bound performer. He graduated from Ball State University in 2023. Since then, he has performed professionally in Colorado, Florida, Tennessee, Maryland, and Ohio as a 80’s rockstar, a non-verbal clown, a 50’s Doo-Wop group member, a pirate, and a tap dancing egg/chef. Christian Andrews is excited to work with YPT! He most recently understudied for Chicago Shakespeare Theater in their production of Twelfth Night. BFA in Acting ’23 from Millikin University. Represented by Gray Talent Group. Instagram | @chris.andrews

Nina Sono is a Chicago native who got her start as a Jazz singer in Autonomous Rhythm, which later became Kids These Days. She pursued theater, music, and dance at Trinity College in Hartford, CT and at La MaMa in NYC. She took a long hiatus from acting to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy, specializing in pediatrics. Teah Mirabelli is ecstatic to join the YPT family! She is a recent graduate from Ball State University and has most recently been seen performing in the national tour of Dot Dot Dot the musical (Theatre Works USA), Shrek (Music Theater Works), and at Cedar Point in On Tap: Home Brew and Fangs: After Dusk as a vocalist/keyboardist. Teah would like to thank her family and friends for being such a lovely support system.
