Here at the Young People’s Theatre of Chicago, we believe that young artists should be seen as the professionals they are TODAY, and have the opportunity to train as such. Our classes and camps provide a supportive environment where your performers can hone their skills alongside industry professionals. Choose from a variety of adventures as your child takes the next step in their theatrical journey:
Summer Spotlight Series

Summer Storylites (Ages 6-10)
YPT’s Summer Storylites is a foundational program where students aged 6-10 have the opportunity to develop confidence in their performance skills while exploring the fun of theatre. Storylites will dive into introductory acting, singing, and dancing technique with a focus on games/play before applying their newfound skills to a fully produced show in YPT’s Downstairs MainStage Theatre. This year’s production: “A Year With Frog and Toad KIDS.”
TUITION: $1250
DATES: June 30th - July 25th, Monday - Friday from 9:30am to 1:00pm. Final performances take place on July 24th and 25th for the general public. There will be no camp on July 4th.
HOW TO REGISTER: Email our General Manager, Kira Nutter (kira@yptchi.org), to secure your spot. In order to ensure personalized attention and growth in our programs, the YPT Summer Storylites will accept no more than 15-20 campers, so we recommend you register early.

YPT School's-Out Conservatory
The YPT School’s Out Conservatory is an advanced program for students aged 11+ looking to take their performance skills to the next level. Conservatory members will explore daily acting, singing, and dancing masterclasses before applying their elevated skills to a fully produced show in YPT’s MainStage Theatre. This year’s production: “HADESTOWN.”
TUITION: $1750
DATES: June 30th - July 25th, Monday - Friday from 9:30am to 4:00pm. Final performances take place on July 24th and 25th for the general public. There will be no camp on July 4th.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Once students have registered, they will receive an email with details regarding the audition process. All students must submit an audition self-tape regardless of their desired role. Auditions are part of the educational process of putting on a production from beginning to end. All students are guaranteed to perform.
